A pity the government saw fit to insist that almonds be fumigated or cooked for general marketing. They still soak, but never sprout. They're dead now, courtesy of Uncle, who wants the best for us. Oh, and Uncle allows them to still be CALLED raw, so we won't gt upset and not buy them.
